Workshop Descriptions
1) Multi-Part Arrangements -- Kirk & Judy House (All Levels)
Playing with a group requires additional skills along with those used when we play alone. Playing in a group where there are several different parts can even be more nerve-racking, but fun at the same time, not to mention fuller and more beautiful. In this workshop, we will talk about how to accomplish this and what skills we need to implement it. We will work on 2 or 3 songs with 3 to 6 parts. Bring your standard instrument as well as bass, baritone and/or Ginger to join in.
2) Rhythm Attack -- Kirk & Judy House (All Levels)
Understanding rhythm is one of the most important factors in a musician’s ability to read and make music. Learning to play rhythms correctly takes practice. Daily rhythm practices or exercises are essential for developing your rhythm and musicianship skills. In this workshop, we will explore a number of exercises to use to develop your rhythm skills.
3) Singing With Your Dulcimer -- Anjie Grady (All Levels)
Accompanying yourself while singing with your dulcimer is not difficult if you know a few simple techniques. In the workshop, we will learn some vocal exercises and playing hacks that you can use to help you use your instrument as a beautiful accompaniment to your voice.
4) Private Digital Studio Recording Sessions -- Brian Bohlman (All Levels)
The average cost to record, mix, and master a single song in a professional studio is around $1,000. However, in this workshop, your recording time is included in your workshop fee! All participants can sign up for a 30-minute time slot to record 1 or 2 songs to be mixed and mastered as an MP3 digital music file and provided on a USB thumb drive. Your digital music recording will make a great keepsake!
